Harmony
Feb 14th
I have been given persuasive incentives to get this challenge completed quick smart – Mavis she be a waiting!
Hmm, I may have stretched the interpretation of this one a bit. It is of course Valentine’s Day today, so I went out with the intent of shooting people carrying bouquets, hugging, kissing, holding hands and generally being all loved up. Harmony as in togetherness then. Unfortunately, there was not much of that going on in Cheltenham today. Maybe 17:00 is a bit too late for the More >
Do images need captions?
Feb 14th
Someone once told me an image should speak for itself. I didn’t agree with that statement then and I’m still not convinced now.
I think that maybe if you know more about the image – who was the photographer, why was it taken, what were the circumstances it was taken in, why did the photographer chose that subject – it will give you a deeper appreciation of the image. Can it even help focus your mind on what the photographer is trying to get across?
I have just come across an image on my friend’s Facebook feed that demonstrates my point. More >
Frosty Escapades
Feb 12th
Well, I looked around this morning and could I find any frost? I looked on my car, on some trees, on a patch of grass and I couldn’t find Jack (lol). So I thought I’d stretch the brief a bit. Ice is like lots of frost, yes? And Snow is like crushed ice, yes? Therefore snow = frost! I didn’t have long shooting as I had to go in to work today, but at least I got out and took some piccies. For Sale – Canon 1DS MkI (Mk1) – Glo’shire £700
Jan 31st
The Camera is in full working order. The leather cover on the grip has come away slightly (see images below), but this does not affect usage in any way whatsoever. A bit of adhesive should get this sorted out.
It had a full clean, service and replacement shutter at Lehmann’s in Stoke (authorised Canon repair centre) in July 2011, and has maybe done 1000 actuations since.
Comes with:-
- 4 x aftermarket batteries. 2 are 6 months old and little used. The other 2 are More >
Current Ideas for Shoots
Sep 18th
Below are some ideas for shoots I want to get sorted. I do tend to wing it on shoots and don’t plan everything in advance, but here are some ideas to start from….
Locations Home shootsWe don’t need a huge space to shoot in. If you have a room at home that has a bit of clear space and a plain wall to shoot against, we can easily create studio style images. I have my own lighting kit that I bring to shoots – I just need a socket to plug them in to.

TF Arrangements
Mar 27th
Below are my usual arrangements for TF. Everything in life of course is negotiable for the right shoot or the right person, but unless previously agreed otherwise, this is how I normally work on TF:-
- TF is a collaboration. To me this does not mean that the photographer pays for travel, location hire, gives a donation towards clothes and make-up, can’t add a logo to an image or needs to give the model 200 edited images from a 1 hour shoot. There are plenty of photographers who will happily do this – feel free to check them out on Net-Model.

A busy day in the cold
Feb 27th
I nearly had a mini heart attack just now! I woke up and thought the clock said 1200 when I was supposed to be half way to Bristol by then….. luckily, it was actually 0800, so my heart is starting to slow down again now.
So, I am off for a shoot today. It will be my first location shoot and also my first 1-1 model shoot in a couple of months now. I am sure it will all coming rushing back to me, but I am a bit nervous. Thankfully, I am going to be working with a great model More >
