Ulorin Vex – The Process
Jul 7th
I don’t claim to be the best PhotoShopper in the world – far from it. I am just starting on the learning curve, but I have picked up a couple of things so far. In this post I am going to show you how I went about editing one of my images from my shoot with Ulorin Vex. If you have any questions, views or suggestions on the editing or the image, please feel free to add a comment. You can leave comments at the bottom of the post.
I took this image in landscape format and left some negative space More >
Ulorin Vex – First Contact
Jul 6th
I started to get in to model photography about 2 years ago now, and I have looked through many model’s portfolios to see who I would like to work with. I have never managed to put a “Top 10″ together as people keep being added to or taken away from my lists as my tastes change or as my experience and fussiness has developed. However, I saw one particular model’s profile very soon after joining the various modelling sites, and she has been the only person that I have dreamt of shooting, basically since day one. No matter how my More >
SVR Take 2
Jun 11th
The second group shoot at Severn Valley Railway – There have been some great things come out of my joining the Net-Model forums. The local meetings (not necessarily Net-Model specific, but many people are on that site) and meeting FastEddie. Ed is a very friendly, energetic, kind guy and very selfless when it comes to sharing his knowledge of photography – if he can help you solve a problem, he is more than happy to do so.
He has arranged several group shoots, which has taken a hell of a lot of organisation getting a bunch of dis-organised photographers and models to turn More >
Artemis Studio
Apr 17th
This was in theory my second shoot with Artemis, although on our first shoot, she was really a Creative Director. Artemis had arranged a studio day with 2 models that I attended and she stayed around to help me out during the shoot. Her vision was so in tune with what I wanted that I knew I had to shoot with her myself.
This time in the studio, Artemis was modelling for me (as well as providing feedback on images as we went along) and I am amazed at what we came out with. I had tried on previous shoots to work More >
Roxanne – At the Ruins
Apr 17th
This was our second attempt at shooting in the abandoned building, but it was freezing, damp and windy last time and we gave up. It was loads warmer this time, though still a bit chilly. I have been looking forward for ages to working with Roxanne. She is absolutely perfect for the style of shoot I want to do, and she was incredibly easy to work with. It really helped that Roxanne is also a photographer, so we spent some time reviewing shots as we were going along and working out how to improve things, which was a fantastic experience for More >
Georgi at Home
Apr 3rd
These images come from a location shoot with GeorgiB. We spoke for ages before the shoot working out location and style we were going to do, and decided to use an abandoned factory in a town near to where Georgi lived. We met up at her place, looked through her wardrobe deciding what clothes we were going to use for the shoot, then drove in to town to visit the factory.
It took us a while to get inside as we could only find one way in, and that was the main gate. It was a little exposed, but we couldn’t More >
Jackie Brown – Garden Party
Apr 3rd
On a bright and warm summer’s day, Jackie and I arranged a location shoot at her friend’s house, where we decided to make the best of the sun and fantastic gardens. We were going for some varied styles here, some with a summery feel and the rest with a more revealing look.
As normal, Jackie was great fun to work with. We managed to try a lot of experimentation with lighting, poses and outfits – some worked and some failed but it was a good learning experience and Jackie is always very patient with me. The other great thing about working More >
Special FX & Body Painting – Behind the Scenes
Mar 28th
I can’t believe my luck! Rob Golding called me up one evening and said that due to unforeseen circumstances, he was unable to do a shoot at Stroud College for their body painting rehearsal. Would I like to go instead? Well, about a nano-second later I agreed and asked for the details. I couldn’t wait for the shoot as I had already seen some amazing stuff from the students. It didn’t matter that this was the rehearsal as Rob was going to lend me his Bowens 500DX lighting kit, and there were places at the college we could use to shoot More >
